Estate Planning
Ms. Simpson helps you transition your property to your loved ones and/or favorite charities by using strategies that reduce or eliminate estate tax liability and probate as appropriate. When you work with Ms. Simpson to create your unique estate plan, you give your loved ones the gift and comfort of grieving your demise without unnecessary burden and confusion. Prior to retaining Simpson Law, Ms. Simpson will explain to you estate planning process, the timing, what your participation in the plan involves, and will come to an agreement with you regarding the fee.
The standard package of documents provided includes a Will, Power of Attorney for Health Care, Financial Power of Attorney and/or Durable Power of Attorney , and a Living Will, also known as a Medical Directive and Appointment of Health Care Agent.
Depending upon the client’s needs the following trusts may also be advised: marital trusts, Maryland Qualified Terminable Interest trusts, charitable remainder trusts, charitable annuities, pour-over wills to revocable living trusts, irrevocable trusts, credit shelter trusts or by-pass trusts, education trusts, children’s trusts, special needs planning for children, generation-skipping trusts split-interest trusts, irrevocable gift trusts, and life insurance trusts are advised and prepared.
Business Planning
Ms. Simpson also assists new and existing small business owners in determining the most suitable corporate entity for their needs, and prepares the requisite documents and filings to form or modify their corporate structure. This includes Limited Liability Companies (LLCs), Limited Partnerships (LPs), Subchapter S corporations, Incorporation, review of Buy/Sell Agreements, and business start-up. Finally, this firm works with small business owners to plan for changes in ownership of their businesses under various circumstances.
