Biography
With sixteen years experience, Ms. Simpson is an active member of the business and legal community. She keeps current on changes in estate and business planning, and you on the cutting edge of the law, by attending numerous seminars every year. She also delights in sharing her knowledge by speaking to various community groups and having articles published in various community newsletters.
Currently, Ms. Simpson is the co-chair of the estate planning section of the Howard County Bar Association; and holds memberships in the Estate Planning Sections of both the Virginia and Maryland Bar; the Estate Planning Council of Suburban Maryland; the Maryland’s Women’s Bar Association; Howard County Women’s Bar Association; Olney Chamber of Commerce; and MOMs Inc. of Bethesda, Silver Spring, and Clarkesville.
Ms. Simpson is an active member of her community, serving as vice president on the parent council at her children’s school and has held board positions with the local International MOMs Club chapter.
Prior to establishing Simpson Law, P.A. in 2004, Ms. Simpson was a strong litigator, practicing family law with Bean Kinney & Korman, Arlington, Virginia, as Senior Associate, and Smolen Plevy, P.C., Vienna, Virginia, where her practice focused on estate planning, family law, and civil litigation. While working with these firms Ms. Simpson was Vice-Chair of the Continuing Legal Education group for the Fairfax County Bar Association, was named to the counsel for the Virginia State Bar, Inns of Court, and was involved with several community outreach programs. She is former general counsel to the Washington Ski Club.
A graduate of George Mason Law University Law School in 1991, Ms. Simpson served as Law Clerk to the then Chief Judge of Fairfax County, the
Honorable Richard J. Jamborsky and the Honorable Thomas S. Kenny and her last year of law school she served as Law Clerk to the then Chief Judge of Loudoun County, the Honorable Thomas H. Horne, and the Honorable James H. Chamblin, while acting as vice-president to GMUSL’s Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity, on the Moot Court Board, and as an editor of the The Docket. She also was an editor of the Food Drug Cosmetic Law Journal and The Regulatory Affairs Journal.
Ms. Simpson enjoys hiking and other outdoor activities with her husband and two young children while keeping up with her book club and community activities.
